Building a pipeline for Canadian tech.

Even with nationwide attention and upskilling initiatives like on-campus career events, a lack of campus awareness remains a critical bottleneck for the Canadian semiconductor industry. Right now, our classmates are choosing software engineering, or even banking and consulting simply because those fields have mastered campus visibility. Semiconductors are scaling at unprecedented rates, and that trajectory is what should be top of mind for students at their pivotal career decision point.

Our Mission

Believing that change starts at the educational level, the Canadian Student Semiconductor Industry Conference (CSSIC) is dedicated to bridging the semiconductor talent gap by showcasing domestic career pathways, directly connecting industry leaders with emerging talent, and influencing education to adopt curriculums with modern and in-demand skills.

Highlight the growth trajectory of semiconductors and Canadian career pathways

The Canadian semiconductor industry is expanding rapidly, offering top-tier stability, excellent pay, and the chance to work on frontier technology. However, it remains one of the most overlooked sectors on university campuses. Because these career paths suffer from low visibility, many qualified students default to software or look abroad for work, entirely unaware of the world-class hardware leaders and homegrown innovators operating in Canada. Through our keynote speeches and interactive panels, we aim to showcase these pathways directly.
Equip students with the networks and mentorship needed to thrive in the industry

Breaking into the hardware space often depends on who you know, but semiconductor networks have historically been isolated within tight-knit corporate and academic circles. We are breaking down those barriers by building a centralized hub where students from across Canada can connect directly with the engineers, founders, and executives leading the industry.
Provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills to industry representatives

Traditional career fairs often reduce technical talent to a single-page resume, making it tough for students to actually show what they can do. We believe the best way to prove your engineering skills is to build something. Through hands-on events like our Hardware Hackathon and interactive, gamified challenges, we give students a platform to tackle real-world problems and put their technical aptitude on full display.
