The Canadian Student Semiconductor Industry Conference

Empowering Canada's future semiconductor talent by connecting students with education, industry, and opportunity.

The Semiconductor Talent Shortage

The age of Artificial Intelligence has sparked an unprecedented global demand for semiconductors, yet the industry faces a critical bottleneck: an emerging talent crisis.

Global semiconductor roles have tripled every two years since 2018, leading to a projected shortfall of 300,000 professionals by 2030.

The Canadian Context

Canada is failing to future-proof its homegrown semiconductor workforce. It is currently the only G7 country without a national semiconductor strategy.

Canadian firms are lacking the federal infrastructure needed to scale: 70% of these firms plan to double in size over the next five years but cite talent as their #1 barrier to growth.

Today, only 12-15% of our ECE graduates enter the Canadian semiconductor industry, representing roughly 400 individuals annually.

Our Goals

  1. Convince students that any skillset can thrive in the semiconductor industry.

  2. Highlight the growth trajectory of semiconductors and Canadian career paths.

  3. Equip students with the networks and resources they need to succeed.
